CORKIES!

So I was at the store formerly known as GI Joe's (sporting goods store) today and noticed these wonderful colourful beadlike things in the fishing section. I immediately knew I wanted to make jewelry out of whatever they were, but they weren't marked or labeled at all, so I had no idea how much they were supposed to cost. I figured I'd find out at the checkout, so I grabbed a bunch (at least 100) and went to the checkout where I was informed that they were called "corkies" and that they were 15c each. So I had to sort through the bag and pick out 60, since I only had $9 on me at the time. When I got home I researched them a bit, and they are a type of fishing lure that attaches to the hook and makes it float, apparently attracting fish.

I made a bracelet out of these corky things, and it is awesome, I'm still not sure whether I'll sell it or keep it for myself, but don't worry, I'll have other corky items available shortly.

Hopefully I'll be able to share my corkies with the world, they make very colourful jewelry, but they're a bit more expensive than typical beads. I was unaware that the large corkies cost the same as the small ones, so I grabbed a bunch of small ones. I will probably go back at some point and get other sizes once I have some more cash. The small ones are good for bracelets, the larger ones could easily be used on necklaces, which I plan on making shortly.

Also, I'll be leaving a day early for my trip to Seattle, I'll be home around Wednesday or Thursday, the first two days of August.

ACEOs

I ordered some ACEO blanks today, I'm really excited to start making ACEOs. I also ordered some bobby pins, which should be fun. My shop is going to turn into a cluttered mess, I may need to open up a separate shop even though I haven't had any sales yet.

Halloween

I got a chance to go to the craft store today, I managed to find a bunch of nifty things. I found some Halloween ribbon, not sure how I'll use it yet, but it's very cute. I also picked up some jewelry components and converted my flower beads into earrings (their listing will be updated soon). Now I need to get to work on some Halloween items that I will hopefully have up before Thursday.

Greeting Card Sets

Well I think I'm going to start adding some sets to my shop. I've noticed that tons of people love buying cards in sets and feel like they are getting a better deal if they buy cards in a bundle.

I will probably start with some mix n match sets of cards I already have, and then move on to some themed sets. The reason I haven't gotten to it sooner is because I don't have a whole lot of cards laying around to take pictures of for the mix n match sets. I should have my first set posted sometime in the next day or two, with a few more over the course of the next week or so.

Photo Reshoot

After reading a thread in the forums, I've decided to redo all of the pictures of my cards. It will probably take a few hours but I think it will be worth it to have nicer looking photos.

Two new items!

Right now I am photographing and cropping the photos for my two newest items, they both should be added shortly. They are a candy themed card and a jellybean themed tag.

I'm in a treasury!

My Kitties Galore card is featured in a Treasury today! Check it out!

Speaking of Treasuries, I've been collecting favourites for a Lobster treasury. Now I just need to wait for a spot to open up for me to make it.

Coming Soon (July 8)

Well, I was going to add more things today, but I was busy so I only managed to post one gift tag. Hopefully the rest of what I want to add will be finished in the next day or so.

I want to make a card with a candy theme to it, probably with a focal point of a lollipop. I'm also brainstorming for more Halloween cards, but so far the only idea I've come up with is actually a lot more complicated than I thought it would be. I want to make some birthday cards with matching tags too, hopefully I'll be able to start working on them soon. Once I have an idea fully thought up, it usually only takes me a day or two to get it finished.
